This CCL2522 7” Glass Onion Hanging Lantern Caged is pictured here in Antique Brass with clear glass. It accommodates a medium base bulb and is lit from the top. Please advise if more chain and wire are needed when ordering.

IMPORTANT NOTE: All Onion Lanterns come apart with thumb screws for ease in cleaning and replacement of light bulb.

The origins of the Onion lanterns date back to the whaling ships and fishing vessels of years gone by. The name “onion lantern” came about because of the shape of the glass.

The onion glass is a hand-blown globe, and casts a lot of light all around! Very popular in seaside areas, especially on Cape Cod! Folks in different parts of the country are now using them both inside and outside on many home styles because of the amount of light they show.

The onion lights are commonly used outdoors near one’s front door, side doors, decks, porch areas, as well as inside in bedrooms, hallways, bathrooms, etc.

Good Morning Debbie, The lights, lanterns and sconces are beautiful! I was rather overwhelmed at the drive up yesterday and couldn’t focus on the lights (other than to see that the works you have in the shop are of excellent quality and design so I need have no fear about the lights in the boxes!). We opened them this morning and are so pleased. My husband’s eyes glowed when he saw the door lantern! Many thanks to you and your husband.

P.S. The white opal shades are much less “shocking” in real life than they appeared on the internet and probably would have been fine. Nonetheless, I held up the frosted shads where the lights will be going this morning and they are going to be just perfect. Thanks again.
